Mono Printing on Plexi-Glass

Hi it's JJ again.  Today I did mono printing on plexi-glass.  It seemed like it was fun.  I'll tell you how to do mono printing the way my Mom taught me.  Mono printing means you can only do one copy.

First you pick a picture to copy. Then you put plexi glass on top of the book. My Mom also put plastic wrap on the book so I didn't get paint on the book.  After you put the plexi glass on top of the book, you copy the drawing from the book using paint.  We used thick tempera paint.

This is what it looks like when you are all done painting on the plexi glass.  Don't put the paint on too thick or else it won't dry well enough.  Wait until the paint is almost dry.  And then you soak the paper for ten minutes, after the painting is dry.  After ten minutes we put the paper on plain newsprint to get off extra water.  After that, you put the paper on top of your painting on plexi glass and then put a cloth on top.

Then you get a spoon and you put two fingers in the middle and  rub the back of it on the cloth covering the paper.

After you rub over the whole thing in little circles, you peel the piece of paper off the plexi glass with two hands very slowly, but I did it with one hand.

And this is what it looks like after you peel it off.  This is the mono print.

I want to show my Mom's mono print.

I hope you learn how to do this with my steps.  Have fun if you do it at all.
